Pros:

Warranty issue

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Have a diesel truck requiring two batteries. Replaced both batteries at the same time within the past 2+ years ago.

One battery had an issue with a small crack on the positive post where it meets the top of the battery about 6 months ago. The local distributor where the batteries were purchased warrantied this battery. I found the same issue with the other original battery approx. 6 months later.

The local distributor said that this one he would not warranty. I feel, if these defective batteries were purchased within the 36 months stated on the battery they should be warrantied.

I am a little pissed. Thanks

Warranty for defective batteries. A local distributor for motorcraft batteries decided not to warranty a defective battery that should have been replaced within the 36 months prior to the date of purchase.

Oli filter

After only 200 miles, I removed the oil filter (FL-1A) from my motor and went to dump the old oil out of it. No old oil came out of the filter. I looked inside the filter and it was dry. While looking inside the filter with a flashlight with the base plate and threads pointing straight up, I proceeded to press in on the black anti-drain valve that you can see through the oval inlet holes, with a small screwdriver and immediately I saw oil flow from the outer cavity of the filter into the center cavity. The oil flowed into the center cavity at the bottom of the filter where the leaf spring is located, not through the pleated filter material. This filter is the one with the relief valve at the base where you can see the spring just under the threads that screw onto the motor. The filter goes onto a 197* ***Cleveland motor to my classic Gran Torino that I bought new 50 years ago. The filter rests with the base plate sitting at about a 45-degree angle upward when screwed onto the motor. I have always been able to dump a large amount of oil out of the filter in all the past oil changes over the years. The oil would always begin to drip down out of the oil filter when I would begin to loosen it from the motor during an oil change. After all this, I put a new FL-1A oil filter on. One that I could not see a pressure relief valve spring under the threads of the baseplate. I started the motor for 3 minuets, then shut it off. I proceeded to un-screw the filter and the oil started dripping out and down the filter as it always did before. I removed the filter and it was full of oil, no problem. Can you explain what could have happened? Thank You, Paul
